“Yea, and no where in the Qur’an does Allah say we need to wear hijab,” she added on.
“Those are very strong statements to claim guys,” Sara replied, “You need to be mindful of what you say about the Qur’an especially if you are not 100% backed on your claims with authentic scholarly research. What if later you realize otherwise and you’ve already unintentionally spread falsehood by saying this to others? If there’s no such thing, then why would we have the blessing of Surah Al-Falaq and Surah Al-Nas? And why is there so much debate over the hijab when it really is black and white, when it’s such an honorable symbol to uphold? Besides what you guys have mentioned, I’ve had friends claim that they can wear fake nails for days while praying salah because it’s between them and Allah but the reality is, when others start following your lead, it’s not just between you and Allah anymore. If what you claim turns out to be incorrect, you are speaking against the word of Allah swt. Isn’t that such a scary thing to do?”

Islam is a simple way of life. It’s our love for the dunya that complicates it for us. In order to justify where we may fall short on understanding, we choose to remain how we are and hold onto the mantra that only God can judge us when in reality we are not ready to stand before Him and be held accountable for our deeds. We cannot remain ignorant to the way God has taught us to worship Him. The Qur’an was sent to us as a clear guidance and believing in our Prophet Muhammad, Peace Be Upon Him, among all the Prophets, is one of the pillars of our belief. He left us numerous teachings to implement the proper way of life by the will of Allah, which have been relayed to us via authentic hadith. Forget getting into the details of the proper method of making wudhu and praying, we’ve even been taught the sunnah way of drinking, eating, sleeping, the most mundane of tasks. And just now, the rest of the world is catching onto the benefits of our sunnah, like using bidets and miswaks.
Since the beginning of time, think about why God sent numerous Prophets to the world. As years went on in between the times of Prophets, nations strayed away from the path of worship as taught by them. Reflect on the lessons from the stories of Prophets Sheath, Ibrahim, Nuh, Musa, Lut, Isa (Peace Be Upon Them) and so on. Between the time of Prophet Ibrahim عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ to the time of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, people of this world continuously drifted astray, returning to idol worship and attributing partners to God, giving into Shaytaan’s ploy. The Prophets (Peace Be Upon Them), were therefore sent to show people the light, to remind them how to properly worship the One and Only true Lord of the Universe.
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was sent to us as a final Messenger of Allah for the rest of mankind until the end of time. He was sent from the progeny of Prophet Ibrahim عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ, when the world had fallen back into a time of ignorance, female infanticide was rampant, women barely had any rights, idols were being worshipped and society indulged in transgressing. In Surah Ibrahim, verse 1, Allah swt says, “Alif, Lam, Ra. [This is] a Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that you might bring mankind out of darkness into the light by permission of their Lord - to the path of the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy.” While many Prophets in the past had grown frustrated by the persistence of their nations to remain in wrongdoing and therefore made du’a for their punishment, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, even on the Day of Judgement, when everyone will only care about themselves, will be interceding for us.
It was narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, said, “Ahead of the hour will be days in which ignorance will be spread and knowledge will be taken away, and there will be a great deal of killing.” [Bukhari] With authentic knowledge becoming even harder to come across and innovations to the religion widespread, we are at a time when knowledge of the deen is so important for the sake of ourselves and future generations to come. Let’s put the debates on hold and open the Book of Allah with an open heart, reading through the lens of Surah Al-Fatiha, also known as the greatest Surah in the Qur’an, which we recite at least 17 times a day in our five daily prayers, asking Allah swt for guidance on the straight path. We have a direct connection with our Lord so let us use it to ask for His help to help ourselves.
